Starting this newsletter
Why?
I accidentally started my first newsletter on Reddit about 5 years ago. It was a diary that ended up reaching 1500 subs, had fairly good engagement (20 upvotes per post on average with multiple comments), and I was posting daily. This was back when I was in my early-mid 20s, had no idea what to do with my life, and was admittedly depressed. I used that “diary” as an outlet.
Fast forward to today, I have a business that’s generating passive income (requires about 1-2 hours of my time per week) that covers my monthly expense, I’m in a great relationship with my girlfriend of 4 years, and recently moved to San Francisco to live without a car. I’m more active than ever – walking and biking everywhere, and working out almost every day. Life has been great these last couple years.
There are lots of guys out there in a similar position to where I was 5 years ago – aimless, suffocated by their own ambition with nowhere to channel it to. I have things to say that I think are valuable.
Why listen to me? My friends and family have explicitly told me they like to hear what I have to say. The people who follow my Reddit diary would DM me saying how reading my entries became a staple in their morning routines (sorry guys, I had to do other things that actually made money). I’m extremely opinionated and an okay writer. I think I can bring a fresh perspective to the self-help space.
So I’ll start writing and see where this goes. I might quite after a few weeks. I might invest the next 10 years into this. We’ll see what happens.
